Our Goals

• To promote Computer Science and Information Technology area and their related subjects within the Cyprus economy, society, businesses and organizations of the public and private sectors
• To inform and educate the public and raise its awareness on IT related issues
• To offer services in the areas of Research / Development / Education of Computer Science and Information Technology
• To become a key player and establish itself as the recognized authority on IT Skills Certification in Cyprus for both IT Professionals and end-users.
• To organize events (i.e seminars, lectures, conferences etc) that contribute to the achievement of its goals To co-operate with the government, the general and IT industries for the effective introduction and use of IT in all aspects of economic and social activity in Cyprus Computer Society.
• To represent the Computer Scientists and IT Professionals within the Cyprus IT industry, and to promote their requirements, rights and goals within their working environments

Ongoing Activities

• Organization of high level and quality training for IT Professionals in association with the Authority for Human Resources Development, the Higher Technical Institute and Learning Tree International. See our current Training Schedule
• Professional Examinations in association with Learning Tree (free to Members)
• Promotion of the ECDL - European Computer Driving Licence, the European Certification for end-user IT skills. Go to the ECDL(Cyprus) Site
• Participation in Committees of the Planning Bureau (Ministry of Finance) for establishing an action plan for the "Conversion of Cyprus into an International IT Centre"
• Affiliation with Scientific and Engineering Council of Cyprus - Permanent Committee on IT. Go to the ETEK Site
• Co-operation with the Cyprus Standards Organization for the definition and adaptation of IT Standards

Annual Activities

• Pancyprian Student Programming Competition in co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Culture
• Selection of the Cyprus National Team in co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Culture
• Participation in Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (Organised BOI 1996 in Cyprus)

• Organized the Cyprus InfoSec conference in 2001- 2004
• Organized the first GARTNER event in Cyprus in 2003
• Hosted the Annual ECDL CEOs meeting in April 2002
• Organized the 8th Panhellenic Conference on Informatics (Hilton Hotel, 8-10 November 2001)
• Organized the "IT & Education Conference" in 2002 and 2000.
• Organized the first conference "Information Security:From Theory to Practice" (Int. Conference Center, Nicosia, 15-16 June 2001)
• Organized the conference "IT in Education in the New Millennium" (18-19/5/200).
• Participation in Government Committees for the Y2K Problem (1998 - 1999)
• Organized the first Y2K Problem conference in Cyprus in 1998
• Participated in the first INTERNET FIESTA (1999) in Cyprus
• Participated in the "Computer and Internet Show" in November 1999
• Organized and delivered lectures and seminars on the Y2K Problem (1998 & 1999)
