Our Goals

The Society's Goals

The Cyprus Computer Society was established to serve its members, the IT industry, the IT Professionals and the people of Cyprus. Our goals and objectives are:

  • To facilitate the transition of the society and economy of Cyprus into the Information Society and the Digital Age
  • To promote the Computer Science and Information Technology fields in Cyprus
  • To represent the IT Professionals within Cyprus and to promote their requirements and interests
  • To support and promote standards within the IT field and industry
  • To offer consultancy and other services to Organizations of the public and private sector in the areas of IT and Computing
  • To co-operate with other Cypriot and foreign Chambers and Societies, organizations and bodies to promote its goals and activities
  • To raise the awareness of people and organizations concerning the importance of IT and Computing in every day life, society and economy
  • To upgrade the IT usage and skills of people both within the industry and at home
  • To offer services in the areas of Research / Development / Education related to IT and Computing
  • To issue Journals, Bulletins and Newsletters
  • To organize seminars, lectures, conferences and workshops in subjects related to IT and Computing

Short History

The Cyprus Computer Society ( CCS ) is a non-profit organization that represents all the scientists, engineers and technicians who are employed or related in the field of Computing and Information Technology. The CCS was established in 1984 and it is the official representative of IT Professionals in Cyprus.

The CCS is a permanent member of CEPIS ( Council of European Professional Informatics Societies ). In recent years, the Cyprus Computer Society has gained acceptance and recognition for its contribution in the advancement of computing and IT in Cyprus. Since 1999 the CCS has introduced in Cyprus the ECDL - European Computer Driving Licence, the paneuropean certificate of IT Skills for end users.
